Heat Shrinking Guidelines
- For shrinking the heat shrink tubing, use equipment specifically designed for this operation, such as heat guns or hot air tunnels.
- Start shrinking from one end – preferably the most critical point- and then proceed gradually toward the opposite end. This method helps prevent the formation of air pockets between the inner wall of the tubing and the substrate.
- If the substrate is metal or a good thermal conductor, preheating is recommended to avoid “cold spots” and ensure smooth, uniform recovery of the tubing.
- To prevent overheating, ensure even heat distribution throughout the process. Excessive heating during the shrinking process may cause bubbling, discoloration, or, in some cases, damage or rupture of the tubing.
